This folks, could be huge. SK Telecom, South Korea’s top wireless provider, has confirmed that they are in talks to acquire Sprint/Nextel. The specifics are somewhat unclear at this point, but SK’s plans are quite clear. With over 40 million Korean subscribers, a stake in China’s 2nd largest provider, and their hands in various other ventures throughout Asia, the company is now setting its sights on the American telecom business. There’s no word on just how much they expect to offer, or whether Sprint/Nextel is even on the auction block but, we have to assume that if their plans have progressed to the point of a public announcement, the talks are already in motion. And you thought Helio wasn’t gonna’ make it. Psh. We”ll keep ya posted as details roll in.
