Flickr adds seven new languages

In the self-admitted “duh” move of recent memory, the creators of now-owned-by-Yahoo Flickr (Steve Butterfield and his wife Caterina Fake) have launched their photo-sharing service in seven new languages. These include French, German, Korean, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish and traditional Chinese, with other languages to follow. Said Butterfield, “These are the markets where Flickr is taking off already,” and added, “Why are we only getting around to this now? There are two answers. One: We are stupid. Two: that we are late.” Flickr was one of the first sites to incorporate tagging of photos, and with SeaDragon/Photosynth around the corner, look for these new languages to increase the popularity of what is already gaining momentum in recent weeks.
