A computer for every room…even if you don’t need it

We’ve all see the movies where, in the future, there’s all kinds of neat tech: Lights that sense who you are and adjust accordingly, TVs that know your favorite channels before you even turn it on, and computer access in every room. Well, Microsoft is toying with an option that gets the latter into reality sooner than you expect. Think “Kitchen PC.” When all is said and done, early prototypes are simply Vista based doohickies that will have some room-specific goodies overlaid on top of them…things like a family calendar, recipe center, bulletin board, and entertainment features like music and video. Prototypes are still in the “stupid expensive” range, but should the prices go down, it’s will never be easier for a resident domestic goddess to share recipes, watch Springer, and keep the green beans on schedule.
