Avis Rent-A-Car wants you to be online and connected regardless of where you are. The company has partnered with Autonet Mobile Services Inc to give car renters a completely connected experience, providing a mobile bloggers dream solution to life on the road. The promotional literature is relatively unclear regarding the specifics of exactly how the system functions, but it’s darn clear on exactly what it gives you: mobile broadband in just about any setting without the need for any external cellular services. Chances are the units simply connect to mobile data connections from an unnamed network, functioning as a wireless router for mobile broadband. Pretty hot! The service is available in 10 “select” markets, and should run you an extra $10.95 a day. Not too shabby for anyone in need of constant connectivity without the need to hunt down a third party Wi-Fi hotspot.
